Jill and I LOVE the Kea Lani Maui resort. We stay there very chance we get. Jill is there now and I go next week. Erin Frank, the Leisure Sales Manager, works very closely with us and gives our guests the VIP treatment, offering FREE upgrades, FREE breakfasts and other incredible perks.
The hotel is offering an incredible special during their special RENOVATION RATES with up to 50% off. It's their way of saying Mahalo for tolerating any minor disruptions. The hotel is operating at full-service throughout the duration of the project.
The booking window is now thru October 28th, 2010. The travel window is August 20- October 28, 2010 and is available in all categories at this Wailea, Maui resort.
What is being renovated? All 3 swimming pools are having the decks replaced with quartize, a naturally beautiful stone that is kinder to the touch than other materials. This durable stone also has a high traction surface to ensure safer footing. Quartzite will surround the adults-only pool, the upper and lower lagoon pools and will be installed at Polo Beach Grille and Bar.
Again, all hotel departments will be open as usual. And any pool that is open will have food and beverage service available.
During the pool renovations, at least one pool will always be open. The waterslide and remaining pools will be closed and blocked off to allow work completion. Tasteful, temporary enclosure will surround all work areas. Work will be performed Monday-Friday between the hours of 9-4:30. No remodeling during the weekend will take place.
The fine restaurants at the Kea Lani, including Nick's Fishmarket, Ko Restaurant, Caffe Ciao Bakery , Luana Lounge and the Kea Lani Restaurant will remain open.
Contact Jill or I now to reserve your suite at the Kea Lani Resort!

On Halloween, Maui's Lahaina's Front Street turns into a New Orleans type Mardi Gras.It is estimated that over 26,000 people come to Maui for this occassion and it has been growing every year.
However, things have been changing. The city is no longer going out of its way to encourage Halloween night revelers because of problems in past years with issues such as underage drinking and lack of respect for Maui residents and Hawaiian culture. Permits for entertainment stages, costume contests, and vendor booths are no longer being issued for Lahaina Halloween events, but the city usually does still block auto traffic on Front Street, for safety reasons, because of the large crowds.
A good place to get more information is lahainahalloween. This site will keep you updated with information about this years event.

1. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.Big Island.
Features two of the most active volcanoes in the world — Kilauea and Maunaloa. When conditions are right, visitors can observe the Waikupanaha vent, where glowing-hot lava flows from Kilauea into the ocean.
2.Rainbow Falls.Big Island. Close to downtown Hilo, take a short drive to Wailuku River State Park, where you’ll discover the easily accessible Rainbow Falls. Rainbow Falls derives its name from the fact that, on misty mornings, one can see beautiful rainbows spanning the waterfall.
3.Napali Coast, Kauai. Some would say Kauai's famous coastline is the most beautiful coastline in the world. Featuring emerald green pinnacles towering along the shoreline for 17-miles, the only land access to this enchanted area is via the Kalalau Trail, an 11-mile trail that crosses five different valleys and ends at secluded Kalalau Beach.
4.Waimea Bay, Oahu.Located on the lengendary north shore, Waimea Bay was an influential surf spot during the dawn of big wave surfing. Made famous in pop culture in 1964 in the film “Ride the Wild Surf”, this famous stretch of sand has been mentioned in songs by Jimmy Buffett and The Beach Boys. Big wave season hits Hawaii from November through February attracting the best men and women surfers in the world.
5.Garden of the Gods, Kauai.Keahiakawelo, also known as Garden of the Gods, is a volcanic rock formation at the end of rocky Polihua Road. Located roughly 45-minutes from Lanai City on the northwest side of the island, its mysterious lunar topography is populated with boulders and rock towers.
6.Diamond Head, Oahu. The most famous volcanic crater in the world is Diamond Head or Leahi (brow of the tuna) in Hawaiian, located on the Southeast Coast of Oahu at the end of Waikiki overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This state monument is Oahu's largest tuff cone, forming over 100,000 years ago. Tuff cones are by magma-water eruptions and have steep sides with a crater floor above sea level. Nineteenth century British sailors nicknamed the crater Diamond Head when they mistook the calcite crystals for diamonds.
7.Iao Valley, Maui. Located in central Maui, just west of Wailuku, this peaceful 4,000-acre park is home to one of Maui's most recognizable landmarks, the Iao Needle. This iconic green-mantled rock, a vegetation-covered lava remnant rising 1200 feet from the valley floor, overlooks Iao stream and is an ideal attraction for easy hiking and sightseeing. One can take a short hike to a ridge-top overlook that offers a fantastic view of the valley and Kahului Harbor. The needle is sometimes covered in clouds, so an early start is your best bet for a good view.
8.Mauna Kea, Big Island.Yes, it does snow in Hawaii. During winter months you may see the snow-capped peaks atop Maunakea, the tallest sea mountain in the world. The summit of Maunakea, rising 13,796 feet above sea level, has been a celestial observatory since ancient times and is considered to be one of the best astronomical sites in the world. For this reason, it is home to thirteen telescopes representing eleven countries, watching the heavens and making discoveries beyond our imaginations.
9.Waimea Canyon, Kauai.Often described as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific", Waimea Canyon offers panoramic views of scarlet crested buttes, rugged crags and deep valley gorges. Roughly million years ago, while Kauai was still erupting almost continuously, a portion of the island collapsed. This collapse formed a depression, which then filled with lava flows. In the time since, rainwater has eroded Waimea Canyon along the edge weathering the exposed basalt lava from its original black to bright red.
10.Haleakala National Park, Maui.Haleakala volcano is among one of Hawaii’s favorite natural wonders, by day and night. On a clear day once can view five other islands from Haleakala’s summit, 10,023 ft. above sea level. Haleakala means "house of the sun" in Hawaiian, and legend has it that the demigod Maui lassoed the sun from its journey across the sky as he stood on the volcano’s summit, slowing its descent to make the day last even longer.

One of my favorite luaus is Drums of the Pacific at the Kaanapali Beach Hyatt Regency Maui resort.
It is definitely one of the most authentic luau's you can find on Maui. Experience the songs and dances of Polynesian cultures - Hawaiian, Samoan, Tahitian, Fijian, Tongan, And Maori.
Enjoy the all-you-eat dinner buffet and complimentary cocktails.
Stand back during the fire knife dancers!
Valet parking is free and shows are nightly from 5 - 8 PM.
Kids 5 and under are FREE!

There is a small park in Lahaina, sheltered by an enormous banyan tree where peace and quiet trump the crazy pace of this heavily trafficked visitor destination of Lahaina Town.
One of the largest banyan trees in the US, the tree which looks more like a forest than a single plant, is 60 feet tall and spreads over 200 feet. Its 12 major trunks stem from just one huge core and its branches spread over the park like a jungle canopy.
Banyans have dangling roots that grow downward seekign soil When the roots connect with the soil, new trunks begin to form and the tree expands.
the Lahaina tree was imported from India and planted in 1973. It established roots and with nothing to stand in its way, grew into a curious sort of landmark.
During the holidays, the tree is lit with thousands of lights. Arts and crafts fairs are held in the park throughout the year, often with live Hawaiian music

Jill and I love Kaanapali, Maui, Hawaii. Why? Because some of the finest properties are there. Which ones do we love and place get the highest satisfaction ratings from??
1. Kaanapali Alii- “Alii”– in Hawaiian it means “royalty”. In Kaanapali it means one of the finest, most luxurious Maui resort condos. Once you stay at Kaanapali Alii, you’ll talk about the beach, the golf, the tennis, and the fantastic dining at Kaanapali Beach Resort. You’ll remember the balmy trade winds and gorgeous sunsets savored along with tall, cool drinks on your condo’s private lanai. And the special pleasures, like breakfast on your lanai, and lingering sunsets are little luxuries you may not have experienced at home.

The resort offers spacious condominium suites, designed for two to six people. All are tastefully furnished with fully equipped kitchens, color television, VCR and other amenities to ensure the comfort and convenience of our guests. Located just next door are Kaanapali's two championship golf courses and Whalers Village where one can find a variety of shopping and dining choices.

Kaanapali Shores is a full service Ocean Front resort property, centrally located close to shopping, golf, and gourmet dining. Two swimming pools and hot tubs. Tennis Courts. BBQ area. We give this property top rating for an ultimate location, excellent scenery, beach access and complete list of amenities, shops, restaurant, game room, work out room and general store.
